The House with Cups

We are now standing opposite an interesting yellow-brick building.

One of its distinctive features is the third floor, which was added in the 1970s and finished with plaster.

The building is decorated with rich ornamentation. Beneath the windows you can see decorative elements shaped like small cups.

These elements are known as cups of abundance, a symbol found in Jewish decorative tradition representing happiness, prosperity and good fortune.

Their presence suggests that the building may have been constructed by or for members of the Jewish community of Grodno.

Such buildings were often income houses, designed to generate rental income.
