Yurisdika stream

We have now entered the historic Novy Svet district.

One of its small natural landmarks is the Yurisdika stream. Today it looks like a modest brook, but in the past it may have been much larger.

The name “Yurisdika” reflects the unusual legal status of the land through which it flows.

In medieval times these territories were outside the jurisdiction of the city magistrate and local magnates.

Because of this special status the area developed its own character and atmosphere.
